Getting started

After you install the app, your store’s most recent orders are automatically imported so you can start merging right away.

What Auto Merge Orders does

When a customer places multiple orders, you end up with separate shipments, extra packaging costs, and a messy order list. Auto Merge Orders combines those orders into a single Shopify order — keeping your fulfillment clean and your customers happy.

You can merge orders manually, by selecting the ones you want to combine, or automatically, by letting the app group and merge them for you on a schedule or in real time.

Create your first merged order

  1. Go to the Orders page.
  2. Select two or more orders from the same customer using the checkboxes.
  3. Click Create in the bulk actions bar.
  4. In the merge modal, confirm the customer and shipping address (if prompted).
  5. Click Merge.
Quick manual merge

That’s it. Auto Merge Orders creates a new combined order in Shopify and processes the originals based on your merge settings.

If the selected orders have different customers or shipping addresses, you’ll be asked to choose which one to use for the merged order.

Explore the app

  • Merge orders manually — Select individual orders or use smart grouping to merge in bulk.
  • Configure merge settings — Control how merged orders are named, how line items combine, and what happens to originals.
  • Set up automation — Merge orders automatically — instantly when they arrive or on a schedule.

How merging works behind the scenes

When you merge orders, here’s what happens:

  1. A new Shopify order is created that combines the line items, shipping, notes, and tags from the original orders (based on your settings).
  2. Original orders are processed — archived, cancelled, fulfilled, or tagged according to your configuration.
  3. Everything syncs with Shopify — the merged order appears in your Shopify admin just like any other order.

Each merged order keeps a snapshot of the settings that were used to create it, so you always have a record of exactly how it was built — even if you change your settings later.

Next steps

Most merchants start by configuring their merge settings, then try a few manual merges to see how everything works before turning on automation.
