Frequently asked questions

What happens to the original orders after a merge?
Original orders are preserved and linked to the merged order. You can choose to cancel, archive, or tag them — but they're never deleted. You always have a full audit trail.
Can I undo a merge?
Yes. Every merge can be undone with one click. The original orders are restored to their previous state, and the merged order is removed.
Which Shopify plans does this work with?
Auto Orders Merger works with all Shopify plans — Basic, Shopify, Advanced, and Plus. No special plan or API access is required.
How does automatic merging work?
When enabled, the app watches for new orders. If a new order comes in from a customer who already has an unfulfilled order, the app merges them based on your rules. You can set it to merge instantly or on a schedule.
How are line items and notes handled?
You have full control. Line items can be combined (with quantities summed) or kept separate. Customer notes are appended by default, and you can configure how order tags and attributes are merged.
Does merging affect shipping rates?
Merging orders can reduce your shipping costs since you're shipping one package instead of multiple. The app lets you choose which shipping method to use for the merged order — cheapest rate, original rate, or a specific method.
How does address matching work?
The app normalizes shipping addresses to detect matches. It handles common variations like abbreviations (St. vs Street), spacing, and capitalization. You can also choose to match by email or phone number instead.
Are there any limits on the number of merges?
The free plan includes a generous number of merges per month. Paid plans offer unlimited merges. There's no limit on the number of orders per merge or the number of customers.
